As part of my Final Major Project during my Foundation course, I chose to explore the theme of ‘darkness’. During my experimentation process I played with using type in various forms to communicate my message. By injecting black ink to each individual air bubble I was able to create the work ‘darkness’ within the bubble wrap. I wanted to experiment with this media because every time you see bubble wrap you can’t help but pop the air bubbles. If you were to do this with my wrap then you’d destroy the message or create something entirely different as the ink seeps out of the bubble, altering the letter. Another reason for using this media is that braille is read using fingers/touch, which fits perfectly as we automatically want to touch bubble wrap when we see it.
